What's on a pool maintenance checklist
| How often | Tasks |
|---|---|
| Daily / every visit | Check the water is clear; skim debris; empty skimmer & pump baskets; confirm the pump and skimmer are running; eyeball the chlorinator/feeder. |
| 2–3× per week | Test free chlorine and pH; adjust as needed; brush walls and waterline; check the filter pressure gauge. |
| Weekly | Full water test (FC, pH, TA, CYA, CH, salt); add chemicals to balance; vacuum the floor; clean the waterline; inspect the cartridge/grids. |
| Monthly | Deep-clean or backwash the filter; check the heater, salt cell, and automation; inspect O-rings and seals; shock if needed. |
| Seasonal | Opening: remove cover, reconnect equipment, balance water, clear algae. Closing: lower water, blow out lines, add winterizing chemicals, cover. |
The interactive checklist above turns each of these into a tap-to-check item, filtered to the equipment you actually have.
Frequently asked questions
How often should I clean and maintain my pool?
Skim and check the baskets most days, test chlorine and pH two to three times a week, do a full water test and vacuum weekly, and deep-clean the filter monthly. Opening and closing are seasonal. The checklist groups every task by how often it's due.
Can I customize the checklist to my pool?
Yes. Tap “My Pool” to set your equipment and the list hides tasks that don't apply (no salt-cell step on a chlorine pool, for example). You can also add your own tasks and rename items.
Does it save my progress?
Yes — what you check off, your custom tasks, and your edits are saved on your device, so the list is still there when you come back. There's no account or sign-up.
Is the pool checklist free?
Yes — every tool on Pool Repair Question is free with no sign-up.
